The British Branch
The British branch of Search Associates works with teachers of all nationalities and backgrounds and with all good international schools worldwide.
In particular, but not exclusively, the British branch works with:
- teachers of any nationality currently resident in the UK or Ireland
- teachers with current or previous experience of British-system schools, whether in the UK or overseas or both
- teachers with a particular interest in attending the Search Associates recruitment fair in DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (March)
and/or
the Search Associates recruitment fair in LONDON (May).
The British branch dates back to 1993, when Harry Deelman, based in Thailand, started a combined "British and International Baccalaureate branch" and for the first time established a presence for Search Associates in the UK.
In 2002 David Cope, who lives in the UK near Cambridge, was invited to join the Search Associates partnership and take over the leadership and development of the British branch. At the same time David took over the organisation of two Search Associates recruitment fairs - the fair in Dubai (March) and the later fair in London (May).
This has allowed Harry Deelman's branch to concentrate on the needs of International Baccalaureate (IB) schools and teachers and on our earlier London fair in February, which is exclusively for major IB international schools.

British Branch - Open Information Meetings
As a service to any teachers interested in international education, David Cope offers a number of open information sessions each year. These meetings take place in London and other major cities in the UK and Ireland, and also overseas, particularly in the Middle East. Prior to an open question and answer session, David Cope gives information and guidance about the international school world, the different ways of getting jobs in international schools, career prospects in international education, salary and benefits issues, family considerations, etc., as well as explaining how Search Associates can help.
No fee is payable for attendance at an open information meeting.
Details of the British branch open information meetings planned for 2008-2009 are available on the Open Meetings page of this web site.
British Branch - Individual Professional Consultations
Another service offered by the British branch of Search Associates is a professional consultation with David Cope at a mutually convenient time and place. These consultations normally last between 45 and 60 minutes. The service is available to any teachers or senior management candidates considering a move into international teaching - or a move from one international school to another - who would welcome some general information, guidance and career advice at a personal meeting.
This professional advisory service is distinct from all the services offered to candidates who have successfully applied for registration with Search Associates. Candidates who choose to have an individual consultation are under no obligation whatsoever to apply subsequently for registration with the British branch of Search Associates.
The service is offered to teachers in all parts of the UK and Ireland, and also to teachers based in the Middle East. (Further details of David Cope's visits to various countries in the Middle East in 2008-2009 are available on the Professional Consultations page of this web site.)
